Fickle Fay Creep is one of Morton's own compositions, revisited solo during the 1938 Library of Congress sessions, where he re-recorded much of his life's work for Alan Lomax with commentary to match.
It is a slow, slinking piece that shows how much drama Morton could build from a simple riff, the left hand stalking underneath while the right teases the melody a little differently every chorus.
