Oh! Didn't He Ramble, published in 1902 under the pen name Will Handy, is the song New Orleans bands played coming back from the cemetery, when mourning turned to celebration. In the Library of Congress sessions Morton used it to show how the funeral tradition worked.
His piano version compresses a whole marching band into two hands: solemn cadence first, then the strut.
